FIFA seeks outside investors for new commercial company as UEFA weighs boycott
FIFA plans to ask its 211 member nations to approve FIFA Forward Enterprise, a commercial company open to outside investors. The proposed entity would manage FIFA’s commercial operations and rights as well as the organisation of its tournaments. FIFA says the project would provide $10 billion for football development, including $4.2 billion immediately. It maintains that it would retain exclusive control through a board majority and keep sole authority over football governance, competitions, the calendar and regulatory decisions. In Nyon, UEFA is preparing a response that could go as far as a boycott.
