FIFA Defends Private Investment Plan Despite UEFA Boycott Threat and Concacaf Opposition
On July 31, 2026, FIFA reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing a consultation on its private investment plan, stating that 'nobody is selling football.' The day before, UEFA—the Union of European Football Associations—voted to boycott World Cups if the plan proceeds. Concacaf, which represents 41 federations in North America, Central America, and the Caribbean, also rejected the proposal. The plan would create FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), a commercial subsidiary open to minority private investors.
