DR Congo Ebola outbreak reaches 2,011 deaths and 4,381 confirmed cases
The Democratic Republic of the Congo had recorded 2,011 deaths among 4,381 confirmed Ebola cases as of August 11, 2026, a case fatality rate of 45.9%. Officially declared on May 15, the country’s 17th Ebola outbreak is centred in Ituri and affects several eastern provinces. The World Health Organization says it is spreading faster than any previous outbreak in the country. Health teams may be seeing only 30% of those affected, while 70% die at home. Health Minister Samuel Roger Kamba says the outbreak has not yet peaked.
