What we know

Russia fired 376 missiles at Ukraine in July 2026, according to an AFP count based on daily reports from the Ukrainian Air Force.

That was the highest monthly total since the conflict began and more than twice the number recorded in June.

During the night of July 30–31, 2026, Russia also launched 255 drones. Ukrainian air defences intercepted 195 of them.

Three people died during that attack.

Another Russian attack struck Ukraine on August 1, 2026. France 24 reported that emergency services were still working at the scene.

Separately, nine people were killed in new Russian attacks on Kyiv, Lost in the Jungle reported.

Kyiv's accusations

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Moscow of deliberately targeting ordinary residential buildings during the attacks in July 2026.

Zelensky also said Ukraine had struck Russian oil refineries and a cargo ship.

Ukraine's request to the United States

Kyiv is pressing US President Donald Trump to provide Ukraine with additional defensive capabilities in response to the Russian attacks.

Zelensky said an agreement would allow Patriot air-defence missiles to be produced in Ukraine. Trump publicly denied that claim.

The US president said he had not decided whether to grant the federal export licence required to manufacture US weapons abroad.
