Nepal and China floods leave at least 577 dead and 1,400 missing
Flooding in Nepal and China has killed at least 577 people, while 1,400 remained missing as of August 28, 2026. According to Le Monde, hospitals in Kathmandu are receiving a continuous flow of relatives searching for missing people, as well as survivors who say they thought they would die. In Bidur, Nepal, flood survivors are moving to higher ground amid the threat of further flooding, Al Jazeera reports.
