FIFA Maintains Investment Plan Despite UEFA and CONCACAF Boycott Threats
On July 30, 2026, the UEFA and CONCACAF rejected FIFA's plan to raise over 4 billion dollars through a new commercial subsidiary, FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE). The UEFA voted unanimously to threaten a boycott of all FIFA tournaments, while CONCACAF—which includes the three host nations of the 2026 World Cup—also rejected the proposal, positioning the United States, Mexico, and Canada in the opposition camp. FIFA maintains its plans regardless. Together, UEFA and CONCACAF represent 96 of FIFA's 211 member votes, making FIFA President Gianni Infantino's path to majority approval difficult without their support.
