Northern Ireland risks losing a European place after UEFA coefficient fall
Northern Ireland has fallen four places to 51st out of 55 in UEFA’s association coefficient ranking following its clubs’ European exits, according to the BBC. On the current standings, the Irish Premiership would lose one of its four European places for the 2028-29 season. The champions would retain access to Champions League qualifying, while the Irish Cup winners would still qualify for Europe. The Northern Ireland Football League would need to reconsider how the remaining league place is awarded.
