Thuringia: 15 trainee teachers out of 45 eligible receive rural salary bonuses
In Thuringia, Germany, a salary supplement programme for trainee teachers accepting rural school positions in shortage subjects has released initial results. In the recruitment cycle closed in May 2026, 45 of 124 trainees met eligibility requirements. Of these 45 eligible candidates, 19 submitted applications and 15 received supplements—representing exactly one-third of those entitled to apply. Thuringia's Education Ministry described the launch as 'solid'.
