During the night of August 8-9, 2026, exchanges of strikes between Russia and Ukraine killed five people in Russia — in the Belgorod region with 25 wounded — and three in Ukraine (two in Kharkiv and one in Kherson). A Ukrainian drone struck Belgorod, damaging residential buildings and triggering multiple fires.
