France: Sensitive Tax Data Stolen From Hundreds of Thousands of Citizens
Hackers have stolen sensitive data from France's tax authority (DGFiP) affecting hundreds of thousands of citizens, possibly more. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu took charge of the matter on Monday, with the tax authority beginning to notify victims by email that same day. This latest breach follows an intrusion detected in June that did not result in disclosed data theft at the time. The attack on the tax authority is part of a broader series of cyberattacks targeting French government agencies, including earlier incidents affecting the Ministry of the Interior and Ministry of Education.
