Snorkeling: TÜV-Verband Releases Safety Recommendations for Children
TÜV-Verband has released safety recommendations for children snorkeling. Children must never snorkel alone or without adult supervision, and should never dive underwater with a full-face mask. Two types of equipment exist: the classic system with a mouthpiece and separate mask, and the full-face mask. Neither is inherently more dangerous than the other, provided the equipment matches the intended use and is used correctly. Several criteria—snorkel length, ventilation channels, lens markings—allow for evaluating equipment safety.
