Ukraine: 3-year-old child and grandparents killed in Russian strikes near Kyiv
On August 8, 2026, Russian strikes in the Kyiv region resulted in the deaths of a 3-year-old child, the child's grandfather, and grandmother, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Other family members were injured in the attacks. In response to these civilian casualties, Zelensky renewed his calls to Ukraine's international partners to provide additional air defense systems to protect against further Russian strikes.
