One dead and 12 injured in horse-drawn carriage crash near Pontresina
One person was killed and 12 others injured, two seriously, in a horse-drawn carriage crash in Val Roseg near Pontresina, in Switzerland’s canton of Graubünden, on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Around 60 tourists were travelling through the Upper Engadine valley in two convoys. Each consisted of a carriage followed by two passenger trailers. One convoy left the road on a slight downhill slope and struck a tree. Graubünden cantonal police confirmed the crash. Two helicopters, several ambulances and a medical team were deployed to the scene.
