North Rhine-Westphalia: German meteorological service issues heat alert for Friday and Saturday
Germany's national meteorological service, the Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD), has issued a heat alert for large parts of North Rhine-Westphalia on Friday and Saturday, August 14 and 15, 2026. According to German media outlet Zeit.de, temperatures could reach 38°C on Friday before thunderstorms with hail and strong winds bring some relief on Saturday. Cities will experience intensified heat, as dense urban development prevents temperatures from cooling sufficiently overnight.
