Wildfire in Andalusia burns nearly 8,000 hectares; authorities 'slightly more optimistic'
The wildfire in Huelva province in southwestern Spain has affected about 8,000 hectares as of August 9, 2026, twice the area recorded the previous day. Around 500 personnel are battling the blaze, including 250 members of Spain's Military Emergency Unit. The number of precautionary evacuees has risen slightly to 474, but no towns are currently under direct threat.
