Thuringia: 'Insekta' project shows wild bees and butterflies surge after four years
Four years after its launch in Thuringia, Germany, the 'Insekta' project published its first scientific monitoring results on August 1, 2026. The initiative shows a significant increase in wild bees and daytime butterflies across programme areas. The project employs flower strips and species-rich margins to restore habitat for pollinating insects. Thuringia's Environment Minister Tilo Kummer highlighted additional benefits for agricultural pollination and two endangered field bird species: the Corn Bunting and the Skylark.
