Les Suds Festival in Arles: Abdullah Miniawy, Mitsune, and Sandra Carrasco Featured
Les Suds, the world music festival held annually in Arles, southern France, since 1996, features three notable performers this year: Egyptian poet and slam artist Abdullah Miniawy, Japanese folk fusion artist Mitsune, and flamenco singer Sandra Carrasco. Miniawy, originally from the El-Fayoum oasis, presents his new project Peacock Dreams, centered on a duo of trombones. His previous project, The Cry of Cairo, won a Victoire du Jazz (French jazz award) in 2023. Trombonist Robinson Khoury from Peacock Dreams won the Django Reinhardt Prize in 2024. Both Mitsune and Sandra Carrasco will perform in Switzerland following the festival.
