Lebanon abolishes death penalty, replaces it with life imprisonment
Lebanon’s Parliament has abolished the death penalty and replaced it with life imprisonment with hard labor, according to Il Sole 24 Ore. Lebanon is the first country in the Arab world to make this change. Before the abolition, the country already observed an unofficial moratorium on executions.
