Germany: Merz reshuffles cabinet and CDU leadership following Spahn's resignation
Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced on July 24, 2026, in Berlin, a major restructuring of his government and the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party leadership, triggered by Jens Spahn's resignation as leader of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group.
