15th anniversary of Oslo and Utøya attacks: Norway commemorates 77 victims
On July 22, 2026, Norway commemorates the 15th anniversary of the attacks carried out by far-right terrorist Anders Breivik, which killed 77 people in Oslo and on Utøya island in 2011. Ceremonies are being held in Oslo — at the governmental district memorial and at the cathedral — with attendance from King Harald V, Queen Sonja, and Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. A new memorial dedicated to the victims was inaugurated a few days earlier. Survivors who have become political figures are speaking out. A ceremony is scheduled for the afternoon on Utøya island.
