Ed Miliband leaves Energy Ministry for UK Foreign Office
Ed Miliband, Energy Secretary in the Starmer government, has left his position to join the Foreign Office, the UK's ministry of international affairs. Over two years, he drove the decarbonization of Britain's electricity sector by 2030, lifted the ban on onshore wind farms, and helped attract around £100 billion in private investment in clean technologies. The think tank E3G describes him as the "most effective minister" of the Starmer administration. New Prime Minister Andy Burnham now faces pressure to approve new North Sea oil and gas drilling.
