Mayor of Alès Christophe Rivenq Threatened with Death by DZ Mafia, Evacuated Overnight
On July 22, 2026, Christophe Rivenq, Republican mayor of Alès — a sub-prefecture in the Gard department — was threatened with death by the DZ Mafia, a criminal cartel originating from the northern districts of Marseille. Two 9mm bullets and tags were deposited at his home. The mayor was subsequently evacuated during the night. According to France 24, the DZ Mafia has extended its control over the city of Alès.
