Norris claims Hungarian pole ahead of Hamilton by 0.012s: first non-Mercedes pole in 2026
Lando Norris (McLaren), the reigning world champion, secured pole position for the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix on July 25, edging Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) by just 0.012 seconds. This marks the first time this season that no Mercedes car starts from pole, ending the German team's qualifying dominance that had lasted since the start of the 2026 championship. For Norris, this is his 17th career pole position and his first since the Las Vegas Grand Prix in autumn 2025. The Hungarian Grand Prix is the final race before Formula 1's summer break.
