Wildfires in France: Over 20,000 Evacuations and a Fire Tornado Near Arcachon
Two major wildfires are ravaging the Marseille region and the Bay of Arcachon in France. More than 20,000 people — tourists, campers, and vacationers — have been forced to evacuate to gymnasiums and community halls. On July 23, 2026, a fire tornado formed near Saumos, propelling flaming debris across great distances. Approximately 50,000 hectares have burned in total.
