Denmark: new AI anti-cheating rules in upper secondary schools from 2026
On 6 August 2026, the Danish government announced immediate measures to tackle AI cheating in upper secondary schools (gymnasiet). Students aged 16 to 19 must now orally defend their written work completed at home. Schools are required to install computer monitoring tools and firewalls during exams. About 9,000 students annually are directly affected by the new oral defence requirement for their major home assignment. The government is also preparing a comprehensive national AI strategy for education.
