Oradea blocks Pride March for 4th consecutive year, activists will march anyway
For the fourth consecutive year, Oradea's city council—a city of roughly 180,000 residents in western Romania—has refused to authorize the Pride March scheduled for July 25, 2026. Local LGBT rights group Ark Oradea submitted over 100 alternative routes; all were rejected. Organizers have announced they will march without official permission. More than 152 organizations from 30 countries have signed a statement of support. Oradea is described as the only major EU city to systematically block such demonstrations.
