Badenoch vs Burnham: Conservatives Seek Opposition Strategy
Kemi Badenoch, leader of the British Conservative Party, delivered her first speech on July 23, 2026 since Andy Burnham took office as Prime Minister. Speaking from a rooftop terrace in central London, she challenged the funding of Burnham's first policy announcements. The former Mayor of Greater Manchester replaced Keir Starmer. Analysts say Burnham, who is comfortable in media exchanges, may prove a tougher opponent than his predecessors. Badenoch's personal popularity is improving, though voting intentions for the Conservative Party have not yet risen.
