Apalachee High School Shooting: 16-Year-Old Colt Gray Pleads Guilty to 55 Charges
Colt Gray, now 16 years old and 14 at the time of the incident, pleaded guilty on July 24, 2026 before the Barrow County Superior Court in Winder, Georgia, to 55 charges including four second-degree murders and 25 counts of aggravated assault. These charges stem from the September 4, 2024 shooting at Apalachee High School: four people were killed, nine injured. No sentencing agreement was reached in advance; Judge Nicholas Primm will decide the sentence alone. A majority of victims' families are seeking life without parole. A notebook found in Gray's room showed he had planned to kill up to 26 people; investigators also discovered a 'shrine' dedicated to Nikolas Cruz.
