Thusis fire: person remanded in custody after four deaths
A person has been remanded in custody following the fire that killed four people in Thusis, in the Swiss canton of Graubünden, on August 21, 2026. The detention order was issued on August 26. The person is suspected of multiple counts of negligent homicide and negligent bodily injury. The four victims were Portuguese, Romanian and Bulgarian nationals aged between 32 and 57. Available sources report either six or eight people injured. The cause of the fire, including whether it may have been started deliberately, has not yet been established.
