IMF: Georgieva Confirms Argentina Can Manage Its Debt
IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva declared on July 27, 2026 in Buenos Aires that Argentina is now capable of managing its debt. She cited primary surpluses, declining inflation, and rising foreign exchange reserves as signs of economic recovery. Argentina's sovereign spread—the gap between its borrowing rates and a benchmark rate—has also narrowed, and credit rating agencies have upgraded the country's rating. Economic growth is positive, driven by oil, mining, and agriculture sectors.
