East Sussex train derailment: 11 injured after Southern Rail service leaves tracks
A Southern Rail commuter train derailed on 13 August 2026, shortly before 4:00 PM, between Haywards Heath and Lewes in East Sussex, south-east England. Approximately 150 passengers were on board. Two were seriously injured and nine sustained minor injuries; all were evacuated safely. Several carriages were overturned. The cause remains unknown; the RAIB (Rail Accident Investigation Branch), Britain's railway accident investigation authority, has been informed and is investigating.
