EU's 21st sanctions package: 32 additional Russian banks targeted
On July 23, 2026, the European Union adopted its 21st sanctions package against Russia. The text targets 32 additional Russian banks, cryptocurrency companies, and oil trading platforms. It also freezes for one year the adjustment of the Russian oil price cap, a mechanism designed to limit Moscow's oil revenues. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen welcomed the measure, stating it "continues to weaken the economic foundations of Russia's war effort".
