France: National Assembly authorizes reintroduction of two banned pesticides
The French National Assembly adopted an emergency agricultural law in the early hours of July 21, 2026, with 296 votes in favor and 224 against. The law authorizes the exceptional reintroduction of two insecticides banned in France but approved in the European Union: acetamiprid, a neonicotinoid, and flupyradifurone. The National Rally and two-thirds of the government coalition voted in favor; the left voted almost entirely against. A Senate vote expected on July 21 is expected to finalize the law.
