Germany’s 2026 salary ranking: Doctors earn the most
Doctors top Stepstone’s 2026 salary ranking in Germany, with median gross pay exceeding €100,000. The Handelsblatt report compares 1.3 million salary records by occupation, industry and federal state. Engineering, IT and development specialists also earn substantially more than the national median. Stepstone puts Germany’s median gross salary at €53,900, while the Federal Statistical Office reports approximately €52,200. Banking leads the industry ranking at €70,250. Management responsibility and higher education are associated with higher pay, although some technical and skilled-trade roles without a university degree also exceed the national median.
