CMA Investigates Euro Car Parks Over Parking Fines and Appeals Process
Britain's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) opened a formal investigation on July 16, 2026 into Euro Car Parks, a major private parking operator in the UK, to determine whether its parking fines are legal and fair, and whether its appeals process complies with consumer law. The action is part of a broader CMA effort to tackle potentially unfair practices across the private parking sector. Private parking fines have more than doubled in six years to reach 14.4 million annually, according to research by the RAC. The investigation is expected to continue until spring 2027.
