Beat Jans joins Geneva’s August 1 celebrations amid pro-Palestinian protests
Swiss Federal Councillor Beat Jans attended Geneva’s National Day celebrations on August 1, 2026, following his first invitation from the city. He arrived significantly late after his car broke down on the motorway near Rolle and said Geneva police came to their aid. Mayor Christina Kitsos awaited him at Parc La Grange, where an official ceremony was combined with public entertainment, food stalls and games. A water leak also occupied municipal teams. Pro-Palestinian protesters banging pots and pans accompanied the celebrations. Jans was also photographed that day in Geneva’s Parc des Eaux-Vives.
