Severe storms hit Solothurn and Aargau, with more than 200 damage reports
Severe storms generated well over 200 damage reports in the canton of Solothurn on August 28, 2026, with no injuries reported there during the morning. In Aargau, hailstones the size of golf balls were photographed in Baden, four electricity pylons toppled near Birrfeld-Birrhard, and part of a sports hall roof was torn away in Aarau. Rail services were disrupted between Biel and Olten and on the R55 near Nyon. By late morning, the storm front had moved east towards Zurich and Schaffhausen.
