Germany: ambulance stolen during emergency response in Brüggen am Niederrhein
On July 24, 2026, an unidentified individual stole an ambulance in Brüggen am Niederrhein, a municipality in the Viersen district—an administrative district located in western North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany—according to Die Zeit. At the time of the theft, emergency responders were treating a patient during an urgent response. The thief exploited their inattention to seize the vehicle. Police, quickly alerted, recovered and secured the ambulance shortly afterward. The thief had abandoned the vehicle on-site before fleeing. The incident was announced jointly by police and the Kreis Viersen administrative district.
