Germany calls for security review at youth services after staff attacks
After multiple attacks targeting employees of Jugendämter — Germany's public youth and family services agencies — the Deutscher Landkreistag (Association of German Districts) called on July 18, 2026 for administrations to review their security concepts. The organization cited an incident in Stade, Germany as the trigger. Spokesman Markus Mempel told news agency dpa that staff protection is the "absolute priority." Many regional districts have already implemented enhanced security measures.
