Microsoft and Mistral AI: multibillion-euro deal to boost AI in Europe
Microsoft and French artificial intelligence start-up Mistral AI announced on July 21, 2026 the expansion of their strategic alliance through a multibillion-euro agreement, with the exact amount remaining undisclosed. The agreement aims to strengthen European AI infrastructure and provides for expanded computing capacity across Europe. The Mistral Medium 3.5 and OCR 4 models are now integrated into Microsoft's development platform. The partnership specifically targets banks, the healthcare sector, and critical infrastructure operators. Arthur Mensch, CEO of Mistral AI, concluded this agreement with the American group.
