Alun Wyn Jones set to join Ospreys board as club faces uncertain future
Former Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones, 40, is set to join the Ospreys board as a director, with an official announcement expected during the week of August 15, 2026. Retired since 2023, he returns to the club where he debuted in 2005 and helped win three league titles and the Anglo-Welsh Cup. His arrival comes as the Welsh Rugby Union considers cutting the men's professional game to three teams, potentially leaving Ospreys and Scarlets competing for one western Wales licence. Ospreys will also move to the redeveloped St Helen's for the 2026–27 season.
