Knife attack at Aarau train station: 19-year-old Afghan seriously injured, suspect at large
On August 8, 2026, shortly after 6:20 p.m., a 19-year-old Afghan was seriously injured by multiple knife wounds during an altercation at Aarau train station in the canton of Aargau. The attack occurred near a Migrolino—a convenience store operated by the Migros cooperative group—close to the stairs. The alleged suspect had fled the scene before Aargau cantonal police arrived. The victim was transported to hospital by ambulance. A criminal investigation has been opened and police are appealing for witnesses.
