Mexico: 7.4 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Chiapas, Tsunami Alert Lifted
A 7.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded on July 17, 2026, approximately 135 kilometers southwest of Ciudad Hidalgo in Mexico's Chiapas state. A tsunami alert was promptly issued for the country's Pacific coast. Mexico's Ministry of the Navy subsequently lifted the alert the same day, stating that no significant sea level variation was expected.
